Meet Mr. Holmes
Through my physical education program, students acquire the knowledge and skills to value, appreciate, and participate in lifelong physical activity and fitness. I believe that physical education is a vital part of a school's curriculum. I know that the results of a quality physical education program encompass the growth of the whole child through social, emotional, and cognitive domains. Physically educated students are more likely to be productive students, workers, and contributors to their communities. As the physical educator at Cimarron Elementary, I take PRIDE in the curriculum that I provide to the students. It is guided by state and national standards as well as the associated programs of the Cherry Creek school district.
I am very passionate about physically educating students through the best practices of health and wellness. I started my teaching career over 15 years ago in Woodland Park, Colorado. There and now, I continue to seek and attend many professional development opportunities to improve my teaching craft as I absolutely love my professional field.
I was nominated for Colorado's Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 2013. I hold a MA in Education Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Phoenix and have a BA in Human Performance and Wellness, K-12 Teaching, through Mesa State College. There, I was a two time Presidential Scholar as well as making the Dean's List twice. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my knowledge, professionalism and dedication to such an outstanding school and the prestigious school district of Cherry Creek.
